ABOUT

Ariel view of all of the school and fields

Nestled in the center of the Town of Huntington, Elwood is a distinguished Long Island hamlet affectionately known as the "Heart of Huntington." This community is perfectly positioned, offering its approximately 11,000 residents, including a robust student body of about 2,000, a truly unique lifestyle: the charm of a small-town atmosphere coupled with the convenience of being just one hour from New York City. Elwood's diverse demographic profile is composed of professionals across diverse fields, all contributing to our vibrant and supportive environment.

Driven by a profound tradition of excellence, the Elwood School District maintains a continuous record of achievement across all disciplines. Academically, students are consistently honored as AP Scholars and National Merit Scholars. Simultaneously, on the playing fields, our athletes have secured multiple league, county, and state championships and earned the district repeated recognition as a NYSPHAA School of Distinction. These collective efforts ensure that our graduates confidently gain admission to the colleges and programs that best fit their ambitions.

Elwood is characterized by an exceptional level of community involvement and resident support for our schools. This critical partnership brings the Board of Education, administration, and staff together with the community to ensure students receive an outstanding educational experience. It is this collaborative commitment that serves as the foundation of our district's long-term success.
