Superintendent
Dear Elwood Community,
I hope this letter finds you well and that you all had a summer filled with making lasting memories together with family and friends. We are looking forward to welcoming back our students on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
The beginning of a school year is a chance to embark on a journey filled with new ideas, new friendships, and new opportunities for growth. Our team has worked tirelessly over the summer to ensure that everything is in place, inside and outside of our school buildings. We appreciate everyone’s hard work and dedication.
We recently shared information regarding our lunch program. As a reminder, all students are eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch every school day through New York State’s Community Eligibility Provision. A la carte items, such as snacks and extra meal portions, are not eligible but will remain available for purchase.
Also, as required by NYS Law, our Students and Electronic Devices Policy is in effect the first day of school. Students are prohibited from using cell phones or other electronic internet - enabled devices on school grounds during the school day. If students do bring these items to school, information on how these devices will be stored is being shared with families as part of the welcome back communication sent from your child’s school. You can also view the full policy on our website.
The upcoming school year is filled with potential. We are passionate about embracing fresh ideas and working together to build on our strong foundation. Thank you for your continued support.
On behalf of the Elwood Board of Education, our district administrative team and staff, I wish you all a happy and healthy school year. Let's make the 2025-2026 school year the best one yet!
Sincerely,
Gayle Steele, Ed.D.
