Dr. Andrew McIntosh Appointed as Director of Curriculum

The Elwood School District has appointed Dr. Andrew McIntosh to a new position as director of curriculum, effective July 1. This position holds oversight over all curriculum areas from kindergarten to 12th grade. 

Dr. McIntosh comes to Elwood from the Valhalla School District in Westchester County, where he served since July 2023 as an assistant principal at Valhalla High School and earlier as a districtwide educational technology specialist. While at Valhalla, he also served on the district’s Technology Planning Committee and Artificial Intelligence Committee. He previously worked as an enrichment and technology teacher at South Orangetown Middle School, where he published a case study with Texas Tech University on student learning and virtual reality; as head coach of the boys varsity lacrosse team at Tappan Zee High School, where he was twice named Rockland County Coach of the Year; and as an instructional technologist at SUNY Delhi.

A Brooklyn resident, Dr. McIntosh earned his bachelor’s degree in adolescence education/social studies from SUNY Oneonta, a Master of Science in Education degree in educational technology from SUNY Oneonta, a master’s degree in sport coaching leadership from Drexel University, his advanced certificate in school building leadership/school district leadership from St. John's University, and most recently, his doctorate in educational administration and supervision from St. John’s University, where he was awarded the Dr. Gene Geisert Outstanding Dissertation Award.
