John Glenn Keeps Homecoming Spirit Strong Despite Weather Changes

Elwood-John H. Glenn High School held an energetic pep rally on Sept. 25 that kept homecoming enthusiasm high despite the nor’easter forcing the parade and football game to be rescheduled.

Students from all four classes packed the gym in their class colors as the homecoming floats were displayed, athletic teams were introduced and the marching band, cheerleaders and kickline performed. Class pride took center stage during spirited tug-of-war and volleyball competitions, with seniors, juniors, sophomores and freshmen cheering loudly from the bleachers throughout the afternoon.

The weather delay did little to dampen the school community’s excitement. Homecoming festivities continued with the rescheduled football game on Sept. 28, when Glenn earned a 42-0 shutout over Wyandanch.

A modified homecoming parade will take place Saturday, Oct. 17 at 12:30 p.m. on the high school and middle school campus, followed by the varsity football game against Kings Park at 2 p.m.
